Super Golden 20
Wow! It's Alix Kids built into a Dreamcast controller! - by Mr. Domino

Wait, don't hit the e-mail button just yet. Pelican's Super Golden 20 "MegaDrive 3" device, a Dreamcast-like controller with 20 Genesis games built in, does list the Australian Shaft as Alix Kids. The game, of course, is the Genesis classic Alex Kidd Enchanted Castle, which plays quite well on the unit as do the other games. "What other games?" Well, there's Sonic the Hedgehog, of course, as well as Flicky and Torpedo Range... Wait, a second... Torpedo Range is just Flicky, too! So is Peetan, SonSon, Titus the Fox, Flappy, and Cat World. Weird.

Of course, when I questioned a Pelican representative on the matter, he said that "all of the games are going to be included." It's not finished yet, apparently. Since the game list is complete, here are the games you can look forward to playing:

  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Torpedo Range
  • Tecmo World Cup
  • Space Invaders '99
  • Alex Kidd
  • Peetan
  • Flicky
  • Mega Panel
  • Sonic 3
  • Town
  • Fatal Labyrinth
  • Columns
  • Dungeonland
  • Sonic 5
  • Titus the Fox
  • Sonson
  • Sonic 6
  • Flappy
  • Cat World

Yeah, the list makes no sense. Sonic 6? I'd imagine the list means to refer to Sonic Spinball or such. At any rate, the games which were actually available ran fine, and the light weight of the unit is definitely a plus. The controller uses an AC adaptor for power and RCA cables for display and audio. It's a nice unit, though the lack of a screen destroys its use as a portable. Basically, if you know what a MegaJet (Sega's airplane targeted screen-less Nomad) is, then you know what to expect.
